Online Humanities Revision Group
This committee consisted of instructors who were all experts in the material and experienced in teaching and assessing student work for each of the three online Core Humanities (CH) courses. Our motivations were to evaluate the established goals, learning outcomes, and assignments and to redesign and redevelop those that needed adjustment to close knowledge gaps. While we determined the broader goals and specific outcomes of the required workload were satisfactory to the stated aims and missions of the University and CH Program, we enacted revisions to the assignments themselves. Our revisions have shown improvements in student expression of their learning, for example by scaffolding large tasks and aligning with Universal Design for Learning principles. Through iterations based on mid-semester formative feedback and summative evaluations, we continue to promote growth among students in our humanities courses.
